About me

The photo was taken at my first exhibition in the Brotgallerie in Göttingen.

Even as a child, I was fascinated by painting and creative design. My father had a particular influence on me; as a child, I often watched him saw out wooden figures and then paint them at the kitchen table, breathing life into them with color.

After several years, during which education, career, and family were my main focus, I rediscovered drawing and painting for myself in late 2017.

Since 2018, I have been working freelance as an artist, acquiring my techniques as an autodidact through observation, experimentation, and most importantly, through painting itself.

Moved by People...

People fascinate me – their stories, their moods, the light in their eyes. In my portraits, I try to capture precisely that: not just a face, but a moment, an emotion, a piece of personality. It is this connection between painting and people that constantly inspires and motivates me. A portrait doesn't always have to be a realistic depiction – sometimes moods and personality are reflected much more accurately in colors and lines that tell the face anew.

Inspired by nature...

Landscapes, just like portraits, are part of my artistic work. Especially the nature around Lake Constance, the water, the mountains, the changing light, and the atmospheric moments, which are sometimes seasonal, repeatedly find their way into my paintings.
It is less about depicting a landscape as precisely as possible. I am more interested in the feeling a place evokes in me. I try to reproduce this feeling through colors and corresponding structures in my paintings. Watercolor and acrylic paints are my preferred media.

When the brush is put down for good...

...I'm usually drawn outdoors - for running and marathon training or long walks with my dog Bella.
I often have my camera or phone ready because I just have to capture special lighting moods, cloud formations, sunrises and sunsets, or certain surprises of nature.
Nature is both balance and inspiration for me. Many of these impressions gathered on the go later accompany me back to the easel and find their way into my paintings - sometimes very consciously, sometimes rather unnoticed.
